The membranes require an effective upstream barrier. Coarse solids, hair and sand are retained through automated fine screening below 2 mm. The water then enters an equalization tank to stabilize flows and organic concentrations.

The heart of the system. We maintain very high suspended-biomass concentrations (MLSS of 8,000 to 12,000 mg/L) through intensive oxygen injection. Bacteria rapidly metabolize carbonaceous and nitrogen-based contaminants.

PURPOSE: Provides deep BOD, COD and nutrient reduction. By maintaining up to three times more bacteria per cubic meter, the required tank size is significantly reduced.

We replace the conventional clarifier. A pump applies gentle suction through the microscopic pores (0.04-0.1 µm) of submerged membrane cassettes, while continuous coarse-bubble scouring cleans the membrane surface and reduces fouling.

PURPOSE: Provides a highly effective physical barrier that retains biomass and total suspended solids (TSS), producing clear water without relying on gravity settling or flocculating chemicals.

Although the membranes retain most pathogens and bacteria, the ultrafiltered water passes through a final tertiary stage using ultraviolet radiation or hypochlorite dosing for complete disinfection.

Phase 1: Fine Physical Separation

Pretreatment and
Primary Conditioning

The system's first line of defense. In MBR technology, raw water must be conditioned to protect downstream membrane pores from blockage caused by solids or hair.

Fine Screening and Equalization

Millimeter-sized solids, sand and free oils are retained using precision screening below 2 mm. The effluent then flows to an equalization tank that stabilizes flow and organic-load peaks.

Phase 2: Biological Digestion

High Load

The biological core of the plant. We operate with biomass concentrations (MLSS) up to three times higher than conventional systems. Fine-bubble diffusers inject oxygen to keep aerobic microorganisms active.

Organic Mineralization (Nitrification)

The high bacterial concentration rapidly metabolizes dissolved contaminants, including BOD and nitrogen compounds, within a smaller reactor volume:

We replace inefficient settling tanks with physical filtration barriers. Submerged membranes filter water at the submicron level, removing total suspended solids (TSS), coliforms and pathogens and producing clear water suitable for industrial reuse or irrigation.

3.1 Suction Extraction

Specialized pumps apply gentle negative pressure through membrane-cassette micropores, drawing treated water (permeate) while retaining sludge.

3.2 Scouring Cleaning

Coarse air bubbles injected beneath the membranes continuously scrub the surface, helping prevent biomass adhesion and pore fouling.

3.3 Final Disinfection (UV)

Because membrane filtration produces very low turbidity, ultraviolet light achieves high transmittance and inactivates residual microorganisms without chemicals.
